Granite is less porous than marble and it naturally include tiny fissures and pits and it require that it is regularly sealed in order for it to maintain its appearance. Granite comes in several colors, everything from black to blue-gray or blue-eyes stones.  Installing granite countertops can be very expensive especially if you look for a professional to install it for you.

If you want to install bathroom granite countertops and you want to cut the cost of installation, you can do it yourself. The first thing that you have to do is to select the granite you want to install. Granites are in slabs when you visit your local home improvement store to purchase. You will have to choose from the range of colors available so that you pick the right color that will increase the general look and feel of your bathroom countertops.

Once you have picked the right color of granite for your bathroom countertops, you are then required to make templates for the countertops. Some granite dealers can send an associate to do this for you. This means that when buying granite, you need to ask the retailer whether they will send you an associate to the templates for you. If they cannot send you one, you have to move on and look for a dealer who can send you one.

Templates are pieces of plywood that are used when tracing the shape and size of your countertop. Once they establish the size and shape of your countertop, they will then use it to establish the pattern for cutting the slab of granite. You need to make sure they cut a hole that is exactly the size of your sink. You can now take the granite to your home and place it at the yard to be fixed. One of the main advantages of granite is that you do not have to worry that it will get damaged. The next step in installing granite bathroom countertops is to remove the old countertops. This involves cutting off the main water valve that supplies water to your bathroom. This is the first step when replacing countertops as it help in preventing you from flooding your bathroom.

Once you disconnect the water supply, you need to loosen the glue that holds the sink on the countertop. You can use a knife to loosen the glue or any other sharp object that can cut through the glue. Lift the sink and remove the countertop carefully so that you do not damage the plumbing on the bottom of the wall. Once you remove the old countertop, you can now install the new one and your bathroom will not look the same again.
